If you visit in March just keep in mind that it is HOT (40 deg plus) and only cool down after the sun sets. BUT, De Hoop was infested with flies and gnats. Sheep and goat droppings everywhere contributing to the fly problem. At Potjiespram we had these little black ants allover and could not wait to leave. On our... More

The remoteness of this park is one of the best things about it as you do not have lots of vehicles and people driving around. The scenery is something I will never forget and around each corner another amazing view awaits you. The unique plant life and rocky landscape is well worth the long and very arduous journey to get... More

I lost a part of my heart in the Richtersveld during the 2016 Richtersveld Transfrontier Wildrun. 48 of us started in Sendlingsdrift and 200 Km later ended at the Ai-Ais Hot-spring resort in Namibia. The terrain is rugged and harsh and its surprising that anything survives there, but if you look closely (and use the information provided each night by... More

It was the fag end of a busy year when I started my Northern Cape adventure including Richtersveld Ai-Ais Transfrontier National Park (in fact around the Christmas time). I come from state of West Bengal in India, and somehow Richtersveld is a popular name in my language in culture since arguably one of the best pieces of Bengali literature, a... More

We visited the Richtersveld National Park in December 2015 for 3 days.We stayed at the De Hoop camping site. Very .......very HOT with temperatures of 45 deg. Luckily there was a big swimming pool .........Gariep river!!! Nice ablution blocks. The mountain desert with the quiver trees and the Richtersveld succulents are something very special to see. Big time 4x4 Valley!!!

My wife and I were incredibly luck to be in the Richtersveld National Park for 3 days last December. We went in with Johan de Waal and his son Bulla from Richtersveld Tours who are based in Port Nolloth. We saw things we wouldn't have seen going in on our own and sleeping in tents as well as showing in... More

This was a trip of a life-time. The views and the experiences are unique and well worth all the efforts of getting there. I would highly recommend that you do it with a group of friends/family with at least two suitable vehicles...
