Nice place

Hercules is one of the best places that you may visit in Tangier. From there you may see also the other side of Spain.

worth the drive

An atmospheric place to visit while you are in Tangier, quite different from the city and easy to get to. Area and caves are clean and not "touristy."

Easy access, nice view

We were dropped off here by our guide, and went inside to have a look. I was surprised how short and easy accessible the cave was. There were some other people inside, still we had no problem taking the photos we wanted to. Very Instagram friendly.

A great stop on day tour

Enjoyed our brief stop at the cave. Spent about 20 minutes at the caves and enjoyed the beautiful ocean view from the cave. The drive to the cave area was also enjoyable - beautiful local scenery and beaches.

Interesting historical site

Upon entering the cave, the first thing you see is the breathtaking opening to the sea. It is gorgeous in the silhouette of the opening. The cave had been used as a source for millstones, so you see columns of rocks with circular shapes cut out of the stone...fascinating.

Well worth it, but try to pick a quiet time

The star of the show is obviously the cave's Africa-shaped window to the ocean, but it doesn't take long to also explore the various corners of the cave itself.

Quick stop

We had hired a driver to take us here and to other local sites around Tangier. Beautiful views of the water and cool cave. Not as natural as I had thought. More touristy. You need to pay to go into the art cave. Two caves here. Keep going pass the art cave ( to your left) to get to the free Hercules cave. It is free!!!

Small but worth it
Feb 2020
If you have visited many caves before you may find this rather small. However, it is worth the visit if you are in Tangier. The part of the cave that is open to the sea is mind boggling. I loved it.

Dont budget too much time though 20-30 minutes is enough.

The entrance to the cave is for free there is another entrance to a "cultural" part of the caves which has people playing instruments and you can get a picture with a parrot and buy a souvenir. Its only 5MD (about half a euro) so the money is not much. If you have time and want to take a look go for it but it is very artificial. It is the main cave you want to see.
