It looked like a really nice place, but we went there on a Friday, Muslim's holy day. So at the afternoon it was all closed and we couls not see anything about the artisans, which is something really worth to see, as we have heard.
Being a small town, there is less of hustling and jostling in Meknese medina compared to larger cities. Not so enchanting as Fes, but has a charm of its own. Granary, stables, the lake, the prison, worth seeing.
For the end of 2018 we (Dutch family of 4, kids 14 and 18) chose to visit Morocco. Fly to Fez and hire a car to drive our way via Meknes and Ouzoud to Marrakech.

Both the Museum Dar Jamai and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum are closed for renovation. There is little to see in the ciry beyond these sites. Although the medina's wall and doors are pretty, they are not worth the trip by themselves.
