A great monument overlooking a beautiful park. It was closed when we were there and I assumed only the grounds were open to visitors. Still a magnificent piece of architecture.

This beautiful Mosque and 253 foot Minaret tower over Marrakech as its intended focal point. The expansive exterior square facilitates massive numbers of overflow worshipers, but the interior is open only to those of Muslim faith. Although you most probably will drive by this landmark, it is worth walking its gardens and viewing up close. Completed in the 12th Century,... More

The Koutoubia Mosque and minaret is the symbol of Marrakech. It has the twin in la Giralda de Sevilla, Spain.

Koutoubia mosque has a beautiful Moroccan style of architecture. It is closed to all non-Muslims. You can rest and stroll in the gardens to recup from the heat and the noises.

It's minaret was the model for the Hassan Tower in Rabat, and stands 230 feet high. As is the case with all mosques in Morocco, it is closed to non-Muslim... More

Getting way from the noise hustle and bustle of the souk, just across the road. Nice place to sit and watch the world go by.

Koutoubia minaret and mosque is an extraordinary place and radiates tranquility. The Koutoubia Minaret is the oldest of the three great Almohad towers (the others are the Hassan Tower in Rabat and the Giralda in Seville) and the most complete. It was built in the marvelous style of the Moroccan architecture. Prayers are Friday and nice to see people of... More
