This is a very interesting area of the Medina and one of the oldest. It is a place to put one foot in front of the other and just keep going and looking and enjoying the ambience of Morocco.

We had so much fun wandering around the medieval city, but we really should have taken gallons of water. My only warning would be to ignore the few that try to hassle you as the city is filled with people who want you to enjoy their heritage.

There are over 9,500 streets in Fes....all narrow, all offering something new to explore. Wander through it all....get away from the touristy areas and experience life in a medina.

Be sure not to miss the surrounding museums, the old cemetery and the view from the ruins. Walk or either get a cab, because in some points it is better and recommended. You will not forget the view of the medina from these places.

This is the most enticing old city I have visited in a very long time. First you have to see the oldest university in the world and then dive right into the small streets to live the dream.

This historical part of the city is very special because the oldest university of the world was built here by a woman.

I booked a Riad in the old town and set about exploring this very very magical place. Its amazing and so real and I felt a very real sense of achievement when I no longer felt like I was about to get lost at any moment. Its a must see.
