The rating, speaks for itself

There are two shops with the same name on the same street. I have not been to that which is reviewed here, but to the antique shop. It's stunning. Contained within a substantial former home, this is THE place to buy a gift of value. The owner is a delight as he moves about this vast treasure trove. His product... More

I went back to Ali's after a first visit with a guide, and was "charmed" by Kamal, the salesman, who is likeable and appears trustworthy. The store is gorgeous, and one feels like one is in the presence of genuine artifacts and antiques. I bought 2 pieces of jewelry, allegedly from the 1930s, and was assured that the white stones... We were taken here by a tour guide, and were told that there is 'no pressure to buy anything'. This speech was entirely false, no pressure to buy, but enticing you and making you feel like you've betrayed them if you don't buy a purchase is just as scandalous. The carpets here are way over priced, they began to roll... More

I did not purchase anything in this shop nor did I find a hard-sell like other reviewers did. I would not suggest anyone buy a rug there -- because it's not a rug shop at all. And no, the staff I met were not Jewish. But, if you have a good eye, there are some good pieces in this place.... More

I was not in the market for anything so I can not speak to the value or quality of the items made here. Just ketting to the place is interesting enough. We spoke Arabic and French and no one tried to sell us anything. We spent about 10 Minutes here at the most. A few pictures is all you will... More

I think the reviews here, all speak for themselves. We were only here because it was part of our extended tour within Fes over a few days. Like many of the shops, sellers and even street stalls, you will be- let’s say not pressured, but significantly enticed, to buy an over-priced piece of merchandise here. If you like to bargain,... Don't get connect as most of the stuff at Ali's is significantly over priced... Ben is NOT Jewish, so take most of what you hear with many pounds of salt.....

Definitely avoid coming here if you have a problem smiling and saying "no thank you". There is a pretty simple rule when travelling... if someone you don't personally know takes you to a shop then it is pretty likely that person is going to be getting a kick-back and it is pretty likely the stuff in the shop will be... Just returned from Morocco and feeling very annoyed to have been conned. Didn't plan to purchase anything so had not researched at all. When visiting this store with a guide I spotted a small floor rug that would be perfect for a room at home and was to be my one special purchase. I did know the game they play... More

On March 21st, our Moroccan tour guide took us to Ali's Art Gallery (Dar Benhayoune) in Fes-Medina. I purchased a rug for 4800 Moroccan ($600 US). The gallery added an extra 0 to the VISA charge making the rug 48000 Moroccan. It refuses to correct the charge and Chase Card Services refuses to correct my VISA billing even though i... More
