this exceptional building, up at the hill, gives you a beautiful view over Algiers. People come together to sit and enjoy the view. Absolute a must to see

I never understood why this is listed as an attraction...as something to see. During my holiday in Algiers, my Airbnb flat was located on the side street opposite this...structure. It looked (as a recent reviewer rightly said) like a very ugly structure popping up in the middle of the neighbourhood. The only use I had for it was as a... More

Quite an ugly building, reminiscent of a power station cooling tower. Rumour has it that it is closed down - no information available, and no way in.

Is this church open or closed? I could not find a working entrance or way in back in January 2016. My guide book said there was a good mosaic inside. Further information or photos would be appreciated. It's hard to get a good photo angle from the exterior, the church is built on top of a petrol station!

When visiting in late January 2016 we were struck by such an extraordinary looking church (like a cooling tower!) and looked to go in. However we could not find any entrance that was locked up tight. It didn't look like this place ever has any visitors.

This Catherdral is completely locked up and surrounded by barbed wire fences on three sides. The lower side houses a petrol station! Our hotel was just round the corner, and it's a shame as we would have liked to have had a look inside, but despite walking past it every day for 5 days - including on Xmas Eve and... More

We tried visiting a few times whilst in Algiers but unfortunately it didn't seem to be open at all, and as such we weren't able to go inside. From the outside the building whilst unique isn't really that attractive. Located right next to a petrol station it can also be tricky to get good pics.

The nuns are extremely nice here. They set up a modest library inside. My sister and I used to go there every monday afternoon. I hope it still there and I am sure they appriciate donations

We walked past this church every day on our daily walks around Algiers. We twice tried to see inside but the locals kept insisting it was closed although one of them let us inside the courtyard but we could not get into the church. The church is surrounded by barbed wire for its own protection. The locals working on the... More

Almost everybody has heard about Sacre couer but that one is in Paris. In Alger the Cathedral is very different. I can't say it is ugly but It is not beutiful, it is odd. Architecture is original both outside and inside. I think it is popular among expats. Because of Easter mass there was at least one ambassador.
