On a beautiful day there is nothing better than either biking or taking a stroll on the High Trestle Trail. You will see the birds soaring in the thermals and the river carving its way below.

We've done the trail several times. Some short rides and longer rides all the way from Ankeny. The lights on the bridge at night are very cool. We live this ride/walk.

Definitely worth the bike trip to the High Trestle Trail Bridge. Lovely area/scenery. I have a friend who makes this trip quite often and really loves the accessible trail head in Ankeny.

My friend and I rode a pedi-cab during Friends and Neighbors Day. We used to walk down and across the bridge with another friend who is now in a nursing home. All the times were awesome experiences.

We've ridden a portion of this twice now, only from the western end of it. For a 25 mile round trip ride, go Woodward to Slater and back. That section includes the big bridge which is quite a sight. It's very flat in that area...More
