The Nu'uanu Pali lookout provides a breathtaking view of south Oahu. It captures the urban-ness and greenness of the islands and blue-ness of the oceans beyond in a perfect blend and is indeed a sight to see. There is paid parking at the lookout and from what I read online, it seems that this is enforced. The drive up to the lookout, especially from the North Shore side, is quite scenic. We got to see the non-tourist part of Oahu on this drive from the North Shore side. It is a short walk along a paved road from the parking lot to the viewing area of the lookout. Beware - it does get very windy at the top of the Nu'uanu Pali lookout. But the superb view of the mountains and the Kane'ohe Bay are worth making the trip. There are a few informative plaques placed here, which give information about different topics including plant species native to the Hawaiian Islands, construction of the Pali highway and also the Hawaiian cultures. It is a serene way to spend some time, with beautiful drives leading to the way up and some enticing views atop the lookout.

Great place to stop for incredible views of the island, the mountains on the forest below. You will need to pay a small fee for parking. Keep in mind it is very windy at this lookout but worth it. This is a must stop.

The lookout is nice, but the view seems to be overcrowded on the sides with lots of brush. I am not saying that it should be cut or removed, but the lookout is not a must-see. You can see from my picture what I mean. Also, if it is windy near the water than it is a tropical storm up here. I took a video because the wind was nuts.

We visited this lookout during our Circle Island Tour with Oahu Nature Tours. This viewpoint overlooks the Oahu coastline areas of Kaneohe and Kailua, and Mokolii/ Chinaman’s Hat. This lookout is one of Oahus best scenic locations so expect great views, and the area is extremely windy. The Pali Lookout is also of historical significance as in 1795, King Kamehameha won the struggle that finally united Oahu under his rule and these cliffs claimed many soldiers’ lives in the battle.

This is a great overlook to see the west side of the island from on top of the ridge. Parking cost you $5 so for that price it is expensive since you are there about 15 or 20 minutes.
