Maui Lava Fields 579015970 This is a nice side trip if you are looking for something to do. The drive through the lava fields is very dramatic and you can see all the way up the side of Haleakala. I have read that you need...More

If you're going to commit to going on this hike....GO PAST THE BEACON!!! We saw so many turn back at the beacon. Don't do it. Go down and check out the surf and beach! It's an amazing view of the bay!

Wow, unlike anything you have ever seen. Our hotel is approx 7 miles from the Lava Fields. We thought we would take a quick trip and ended up exploring for 2 hours. You can get the feel of it in a few short steps, but...More

This starts out on sand, dirt, and roots as a trail bed. It turns into a very uneven, hard on the ankles, walking on lava chunks trail bed. But it is pretty cool to see these lava flow fields. As you follow the trail remember...More

Where the road ends south of wailea. Drive seems like a mini pebble beach of Maui. Most of this area 2 percent is preserved for untouched ocean life. Landscape is lots of lava rock below lush hills. Odd looking area very unique. You can hike...More

By car, follow a winding often unpaved road to where you see many vehicles parked and think that's the end, but just keep on going. An amazing sight to behold for sure. Our experience here was confined mainly to some picture taking as the wind...More

Definitely worth a visit, however there is not much to do there. It is easy to get to, it is near and it is cool. However, after about 5 minutes and few photos you can move on, I wouldn't go out my way to go...More

Do yourself a favor and go on the complete 1.5 mile hike after driving to the parking lot. It's slightly less than 3 miles round trip. Lava formations grow wilder as you trek further along the coast, and keep an eye out for occasional goats...More

As you drive the road to the lava fields you feel as though you have traveled to another planet. The jagged rocky lava here does not resemble the smooth flowing lava that usually comes to mind. It looks as though huge dump trucks randomly dumped...More
