We drove out to Kula to attend the Saturday evening mass. What a great experience. Very friendly parish. We enjoyed the singing and loved the small yet ornate church. Lovely gift shop was a nice place to visit after mass. Adjoining cemetery is beautiful too.

It is worth visiting this little jewel built in 1895 by Portuguese immigrants from Madeira and the Azores. The drive to the church in upcountry Maui is beautiful and so is the view from the church. It is inspirational to folks of all beliefs.

On a rainy day decided to go see the Holy Ghost Mission Church in Kula. Built in 1890's for the Portuguese immigrants who came to Maui as labors for the sugar plantations. Has a very exquisite altar and Station of the Cross.well worth the time.

It is located on the same road that goes to Haleakala and well worth the drive if you like exploring old churches. The actual name of the site is the Church of the Holy Ghost and it was built in the 1890's. The church is beautiful inside and outside and contains a replica of a crown given to the church... More

Holy Ghost Mission was built to serve the Portuguese workers that came to Hawaii to work on the sugar plantations and was consecrated in 1899. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. An active congregation still uses the church. It is in the shape of an octagon and is located on a small rise with a nice view... More

It's a little bit of a drive...but when you arrive in the parking lot you will see an amazing and beautifully maintained Catholic Church. It's the Holy Ghost Mission @ 4300 Lower Kula Rd. on Maui. Check a map to find this charming site. If you are interested in churches don't miss this wooden frame octagonal shaped chapel still in... More
