I have done this trail in the past but this time we came with our daughter who is just 5 months. I would only recommend this trail with a baby for very experienced hikers. We only did the first two miles of the trail and back since we had our daughter. The beginning of the trail is very busy but... More

My husband and I hike quite a bit and are in decent shape. We did the 4 mile hike to the falls and 4 miles back. According to my fitness tracker 175 flights of stairs and 26000 steps. It had been raining non stop for 2 days prior so I assume the trail was muddier than usual. We came back... More

My wife and I did the hike on the Kalalau trail to Hanakapi`ai Falls and it was one of the coolest and must fun hikes we have ever done. We highly recommend doing this hike early in the day as it will get very busy. We arrived at sun rise and were one of the first people to make it... More

I've hiked the Kalalau Trail every time I visit Kauai. The views around every bend are nothing short of amazing. Hiking the trail is my favorite way of seeing the Na Pali Coast because it brings you the closest to the scenery and you can travel at your own pace. The views from helicopters are also fantastic, but you have... More

Completed this trip with my son Thanksgiving Week. Words don't describe the beauty and challenge of hiking this trail. We completed the hike in 3 days in beautiful weather. One day hiking in, one day of rest at the campsite / beach and one day hiking back. Met a few people along the way including the "Ranger" who invited us... More

This was a great experience though it could have been better if it had not rained 6 of the 8 miles to the waterfall. Though it was extremely slippery in the rain!! (we finally looked around to find sticks to lean on, which were very helpful), we loved it.  I think it was more about the "journey" through the rainforest, seeing... More

One of the most beautiful treasures on this planet. You are really in touch with so much of what is on this planet- the land, the sea and creatures. The array of greens and blues you encounter on this hike are unlike any other place. The cliffs offer a spectacular view of the ocean and trail you have passed and... More

This review is only for the first 2 miles of the trail. Trail starts to the left from the very end of road 560. Be early because there are not too many parking places here. Or there is but so are a lot of people. Trail starts with steep climb and the first 0,5 miles to the first and one... More

What a great hike! We did the 8 mile RT hike to the waterfall. So amazing. It took us a total of 6 hours. That includes stopping a few times for snacks, breaks and lunch. There are multiple river crossing where you will get wet. Smart to hike this one in chacos or keens. Bring lots of water (or water... More

Our family of 5 (kids are 3, 4 and 6) walked the 2 miles to Ke'e Beach and back. We walk more often and are accustomed to carry the younger ones when they need a rest. The views are stunning and the path is straightforward. It had rained though and especially the rocky parts of the track were slippery. We... More
