This I one of the first places I visited in Athens. My husband and I strolled here. It is lovely, well kept and there is also a network of well maintained trails. We will be back! the only glitch is you can't bring your pooch.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is a large botanical garden in terms of size. We were there the first week of November and there was a plethora of camellias in bloom. The walking paths were well-maintained. I was disappointed, however, in the trees. We...More

Beautiful trails. One of our daughters has chosen the Botanical Garden for her wedding venue. I went there for job training, but one of my daughters frequently went there to run (she was on the high school cross country team).

We'd never been to - or even heard of the State Botanical Gardens, but friends suggested it, and we were in for a treat! There's a big indoor tropical conservatory with lots of orchids, bromiliads, and tropical ferns, trees like the cacao, and many plants...More

While visiting our daughter at UGA we had some time to kill and spent an afternoon strolling through the beautiful gardens. It was very nice and I'd recommend it to others visiting the area.

It's free to park and visit although they appreciate donations. I usually try to put a few dollars in the box by the entrance whenever we attend but its not required or expected.

There are a good number of paved trails that are, but there are more unpaved trails that are not. The paved trails to cover the majority of the actual gardens though while the unpaved trails are just nature trails.
