This sculpture was apparently on UGA's campus at first, but moved here to a field, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. You drive out to the sculpture, look at it, climb on it if you like, contemplate the meaning of life, and go home.

Literally. An odd thing to come across but my grand-daughters enjoyed the experience. It is fascinating.

This is not even in Athens, let alone Clarke county. It's 15-20 minutes away in Greene County just past the Oconee County line.

For some reason we liked the Iron Horse. Probably some combination of the history and the incongruity of the location. It's approximately 20 miles out of Athens.

All UGA students and graduates need to make the short drive to see the historic Iron Horse, esp since there is now public access to the sculpture.
