I think that this has to be my favorite of all of the antebellum homes I have seen on the Antebellum Trail. This was a house that had families whose sons attended the University of Georgia.....which was why this house was originally built. Gorgeous.

I attended an outdoor wedding reception here. The building is a nice backdrop for an outdoor garden party. I did notice that the facility could benefit from more restrooms.

Lovely old southern mansion that's been tastefully restored. Nice for an indoor or outdoor wedding. Beautiful in autumn with the trees in full color for great photos.

I attended a wedding reception here and was very amazed at the beauty of the home. The back yard of the home was exquisite. The family had tents set up for dinner and a band. There were strings of lights up as well. The house was well kept with period décor (furniture, lighting, drapes, etc.) The only part that I... More

The Taylor-Grady House is a perfect example of a southern antebellum home of the upper class. Built around 1840, the house fell into decay and was saved by the Athens Junior Assembly in 1966 and restored. Today it is a museum and events venue. Tours are $3.00 per person but you must call ahead if you plan to visit as... More

The Taylor-Grady House is a Greek Revival house originally built in the 1840's. Now owned by the local government and operated by the Junior League, it is a popular spot for weddings and other celebrations and events. The house is furnished with period pieces and is occasionally opened to the public for tours.

It has that southern charm you expect and has been farily well kept for decades. I have not been there for a couple years. Most of my experience there was for wedding receptions and it was a very nice place to celebrate.

Beautiful house! I went to see the decor and find out the history and architecture of the home. It is a self guided tour. The docent gives visitors a several page write-up on the house and visitors are welcomed to stroll through the house at their leisure. The docent is available for questions. The home is set-up to have public... More

Athens' wonderful museum house/ welcome center is a great place to bring out of town guests or to pick up brochures for a projected trip. The center has great hosts, and there's been a serious effort to decorate the house in authentic period pieces and designs. There's even a nice little gift shop for that special souvenir of Athens. We've... More
