Beautiful wilderness park about 20 km outside of Tegucigalpa. The site has many kilometres of hiking trails and is terrific for bird enthusiasts, as it's an easily accessible place to see quetzals, trogons, toucans and more.

Exploring the trails in La Tigra is a wonderful experience for those who enjoy nature. There are several trails marked by level of difficulty. I recommend to go there during dryer seasons if you do not have a 4X4 truck. You can access the park either by Jutiapa or by San Juancito. Both are around one hour drive from Tegucigalpa.... More

This is a nice national park not too far outside of Tegucigalpa. It is a cloud forest in the mountains, this means you should prepare for lots of uphill trekking and for frequent mists. I would visit more often, but they do not allow you to bring your dog into the park.

Sometimes I just want to "get away from it all" - and this is the best place I've ever done it. I visited this park after my business trip concluded, and hiked their trails with my work colleague. We spent a few hours without even seeing another human being (but felt safe throughout). The trails are well marked. Towards the... More

It is not easy to get there as the access roads are not in good shape but the park itself is great with very nice trails of acceptable length and at 6000 ft a good workout.
