Here’s where you get the shot showing what’s on the back of the $1 Lempira! Go up the backside path and stand facing north on the east side. There’s your shot.

Copan is known for the quality of its art, whether it be limestone carvings, pottery, buildings, incence burners, etc. Any one who visits this site will be amazed and overwhelmed.

Copan can not compete with Tikal or Palenque, when it comes to architecture. buildings are less impressive. still, located in a beautiful forest setting, the pyramid is a nice construction.

We absolutely love the the Mayan Ruins at Copan, one of our favourite places in all of Central America. The Pyramid over Rosalila Temple is probably it's crowning glory but the whole complex is magnificently beautiful. The temples are spectacular and the grassy lawns and leafy tree copses make the whole place idyllic and peaceful. Well worth hiring a guide. They are very inexpensive and vastly knowledgeable and we felt it added greatly to our visit. Great to get so close to the temples, right up to and onto! A truly wonderful place and an absolute must-do. …
