This site is a work in progress carefully being restored and most of it is still original by archaeologists. There are various sections like where the poor lived, the governor, the royal family, etc. You can see their beds and bathrooms, can see evidence laying around of pottery shards and obsidian. We had a local guide take us around and gave very much detail and makes the tour more interesting because you get the background of the site since it is not marked out like the Copan Ruins. This site is about 2km away from the main site. Don't overlook it and a guide will set you back about 15 dollars or some will do it for a tip. Takes about an hour to hour and a half with a guide.

If you think you had enough after visiting Copan Ruins, you are wrong! Sepulturas is completely different. Is the evidence of Mayas everyday life.

We walked the 1.5 km from the Copan ruinas, but the main sites, houses, were closed due to maintenance. So only a nature trail was open, which we did not do.

We toured the main ruins on one day then visited the sepulturas the next day. Admission to both sites is included in the entrance fee of $15. The ticket is valid for eight days during which each site may be visited once. During the hour or so we were walking around the sepulturas, we did not see another tourist. It was truly a memorable experience to be among the ruins by ourselves. Very quiet and moving.

Used my entrance ticket from the main ruins (yesterday's ticket) to enter Las Sepulturas first thing in the morning. Visited all of the structures, and sat in the shade watching many mot-mots, orioles, squirrels and a pair of squirrel cuckoos, plus many other birds. Found a few tiny toads (fingernail sized). No bugs! Saw only 5 workers and 3 other tourists during a lazy 3 and a half hour visit to this site. Felt very safe.
