The ruins were really interesting and amazing to explore and we loved seeing all the wildlife especially the Macaws, only for the $15 tunnel scam my review would be 5 star. We paid $15 entry which was worth it, initially we didn't bother pay the addition $15 to go in the tunnels because we didn't think there would be much... More

So glad we ventured into Honduras on our Guatemala vacation to experience the Copan ruins. Although we later went to Tikal, these ruins are so beautifully preserved due to the different materials used, and the museum and free flying Macaws were both spectacular. Highly recommended!

The ruins are an easy walk from town - though tuk tuks also easy to take. While not as extensive as Tikal in Guatemala the stelae and hieroglyphic staircase show the writing skills and artistry of the Maya at their best. With few tourists one can wander and contemplate the ruins at leisure and in peace. Do visit the sculpture... More

Took a guided tour here, approx. 2 hours in length. Guide was very informative and could answer all our questions. Took plenty of excellent photos. Great history to be seen and learn. Wear bug spray and take water with you. Lots of walking and gets hot in the sun. The museum afterwards was a great place to cool down and... More

This is the best we've seen so far and knocks Chichen Itza and Uzmal into a cocked hat. Our group had a guide, which helps greatly. His English was excellent and delivery clear and to the point. No information overload. Superb museum full of original carvings put the rest into context. A large but easily explored site including original ball... More

This was our first visit to Mayan Ruins and we were slightly underwhelmed. As far as ruins go I'm told this is GREAT... but the tin roofs over the displays were, well distracting and a little ugly. We hired a tour guide for a 2 hour tour (We negotiated down to $30, but the going rate is around $40/group. Each... More

We came to the town of Copan Ruinas specifically to visit the actual ruins just outside town. Wow, what a wonderful place! The sculptures and stellas and carvings surpass those in Tikal and are better preserved. This is a must-see for folks interested in Maya sites. At $15 the admission is quite reasonable considering all the necessary upkeep and preservation... More

The atmosphere of this place is highlighted by a noisy flock of huge scarlet macaws that appear and disappear as you explore the ruins. It makes the experience even more special. The huge stone stellae erected by the kings of Copan and a massive stone altar that depicts all 16 kings are truly magical. There is a giant staircase that... More

I went to the Mayan Site of Copan, Honduras as a day trip from San Salvador. Two border crossings and 4 hour drive each way, but totally worth it. Copan has been rebuilt yet many areas have been left alone. You can see the contrast quite clearly. It is not too crowded. You are assigned a guide with your ticket,... More

The city has a working atm, but only a few places take credit cards, especially restaurants. It is a longer walk to the ruins from town than is stated in the guide book, but there are small fulfils that will take you out and back for a dollar a live each way.
