Apparently there are 2 places in Copan, neither of which we could find, even using google maps. Very few streets have signs and even the locals don't know street names. We set up a tour of Quirigua, Guatemala with Trifinio2 via e-mail. I let them know we did not need an English speaking guide as we would tour the ruins on our own. They arrived at our hotel on time for pick up on time at 7 AM. The border crossing was easy. It was a 3 hour drive to the ruins which were fantastic. We spent 2 1/2 hours at the ruins which was perfect for us, although a few small groups came and went with barely an hour tour. The ride back was closer to 3 1\2 hours and the car was having brake issues. The lack of a physical presence in Copan is a concern. We wanted to do the gastronomy tour but ran out of time in Copan.

Found Hector on an english site and didnt realise how little english he actually speaks - just enough! Got ourselves organised via email. We had 2 days in Copan and wanted to go to Luna Jaguar Hotsprings, the ruins, the Tea and Chocolate place and the Bird park. Hector arranged all of our tickets, transport and english speaking guides where required. It made the trip so easy. And just Fyi - the tea and chocolate place is open for only about 2 hours each day and much of Copan is not open in the morning. Would highly recommend Hector's service

I feel bad leaving this feedback (The first time I have had to rate a travel company with less than 4 TA stars), but I have worked with outfitters across the world and I have honestly never left feeling so ripped off and deceived. I did two private tours, one to the ruins and bird park ($140USD) and then a day to Santa Rosa de Copan and Gracias ($220USD), plus a convenience charge for paying on Paypal, and I already thought this pretty steep considering this is Honduras, but his description made it sound like I was getting two packed days where I would really get to cover and experience everything, and this was not the case. The day of the ruins/bird park visit, I was met by the driver at the arranged time. He didn't really explain to me how the day would go, just dropped me at the ruins with a guide from the association, which I could have done myself. I was then taken to Macaw Mountain and walked through it with one of the association guides. Basically around noon, the driver told me we were done and I was in disbelief, so he took me to a butterfly greenhouse (on my own account). The cost of whatever I did couldn't have been more than $60-70. Exactly what did I pay $140 for? The second day, I was more optimistic since I went with Hector himself. We arrived in Santa Rosa de Copan and it seemed like he had nothing planned. We spent more than half an hour in the town square waiting so he could meet his friend over there - I really couldn't believe it. I sat down and watched a festival going on as I didn't really know what else to do. We walked back to the car once he met his friend, and just continued the driver to Gracias. In Gracias, I was paired with a local guide who showed me the main church and quickly walked me about two blocks in the city for my "tour". Lunch was included, which did not cost more than $2-3USD. We then headed up to the fort for 15-20 minutes, followed by a shopping stop at Lorendiana (I refused to buy anything). Around 1pm, my $220USD private tour ended with about 1-1/2 hours of actual tour. Hector is a nice guy and a good person, but this was just a mess. If Hector had charged a sensible price for this or really offered what this price merited, I might say ok, no problem, but spending $370 on this was seriously one of the worst travel mistakes I have ever made.

My family and I had the best time ever touring the sites around Copan. Trifinio Tours had the best service available for our needs and we enjoyed every single minute of it. I highly recomment using trifinio tours when planning a trip to Honduras. We will defenitely use them again.

We scheduled a tour with this company as they were one of the few that could be found on trip adviser for Copan, and the only company advertising car service from SPS to Copan. While we received what we agreed upon, after speaking with others and due to some conversation we had with the operator, we left the experience feeling ripped off and deceived in some ways. If your travel plans require a car as ours did, I would recommend speaking with your hotel managers before booking to avoid a similar impression.
