The centerpiece of the resort is The Black Pearl, Roatan’s first and only golf course. This 18-hole, par-72, 7200 yard championship golf course was created by world famous golf course architect Pete Dye. The course starts at the ocean’s doorstep, rises into the island’s rolling foothills, then takes golfers on a wild ride back to the seaside clubhouse. It features one of Dye’s signature island greens, and 14 holes offer stunning vistas of the ocean and the Meso-American Barrier Reef. The Black Pearl is not only a haven for golfers, but for the vast wildlife on Roatan as well. With more than 100,000 plants and trees, the golf course is one of the largest sanctuaries of plant and animal life on the island. This eco-friendly golf course is one of only a few golf courses in the world to use a special strain of grass called Seashore Paspalum. Dye Designs were pioneers of the use of this salt-water tolerant strand for tropics-based projects, known for its environmental compatibility, ease of irrigation and maintenance, and translucent green hue. Its appearance, juxtaposed against the turquoise Caribbean waters, inspired The Black Pearl’s tagline: “The Best Greens and the Best Blues.” The Black Pearl also features state of the art practice facilities including a lighted driving range, ocean front warm-up range, and a practice chipping green designed to create an atmosphere of game-improvement, one that encourages guests and residents to enhance their skill sets while honing their games on one of the region’s most playable layouts. This is a semi-private course with a myriad of membership options available including temporary resident memberships, corporate and executive memberships, and yearly memberships. The Black Pearl is a world-class golf course that perfectly complements Pristine Bay’s luxury resort and real estate options.

The course was visually stunning and challenging, characteristic of P. B. Dye courses. The club house beautiful and simply elegant. Decorated with modern environmental art that with a modern and minimalistic touch. The grounds surrounding this club with its pool that transforms into the environment and blends visually into the aqua blue ocean are breathtaking. The open air restaurant overlooking... More

Black Pearl Golf course is on the Pristine Bay Resort and has some of the best views of the ocean from several holes throughout the course. It rained fairly hard a couple hours before we got there but the course still played OK despite a few puddles. Allot of elevation differences along the way so be prepared to add or... More

We played here on 1/26/17. We had two separate tee times. The staff in the clubhouse was very friendly. The rental clubs were also nice. The course was not in as great of shape as I would have expected for the $. There were areas around the bunkers that could use some work. Overall though the course was nice and... More

Loved the challenge and the variety of the holes ( loved the island hole !) .... value for money is also ok - and the staff was very friendly - have a drink on the terrasse at the end of the round and enjoy the great view ! Pro shop staff was helpful in getting it all set up for... More

I played Black Pearl in December 2016. Course was nice, but soaked from previous days rain. Appeared to be drainage issues everywhere. Pro shop had little to no merchandise. Staff ignored requests for towels for the cart to wipe clubs clean from the mud. No GPS on the carts and poor map quality on the score card. No hole layout... More

I contacted the Black Pearl through their website. After a week or so they got back to me and were helpful in advising about transportation from my cruise ship at a lower price than the taxis at Mahogany Bay. The location is on a hillside on the north side of the island so the views coming down to the resort... More

Hopped off the cruise ship and was amazed with the beautiful mountains and beaches on Roatan. The views are breath-taking and the course was in amazing condition. One guy in our group played bare-footed. I cannot wait to come back and play here again.

An amazing course, in a beautiful setting. This course is challenging, but even with a 13 handicap you will enjoy it ( and not lose too many balls). Equipment rental is lacking, I'm 6'4" and usually play with +1" length clubs, they only had standard to rent. I just didn't take my clubs on a Diving vacation ! Carts are... More

This place offers views that are so fantastic that I did not want to stop playing golf. This place is so serene that your blood pressure stays down and of course if you stay calm, your game is pot on! The Club House is beautiful and fully staff with the most generous and pleasant staff that is there to help... More

Rated 4 stars because quite frankly the course design is outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed playing/navigating it. Customer service is quite another topic. I played it twice in two days. First off, it seems as though there are way too many employees because they can be found congregating near the golf carts most of the time. As I saw one riding... More
