The most impressive things about the Lost World are the two pyramids. You can climb up one, but not the other. There is also an altar where sacrifices (human and animal) took place. If you made it to the Lost World, walk to Temple 4 to enjoy the view from the top.

Tikal exemplifies all the adjectives one can muster; awesome, amazing, spectacular; incredible. The park will leave you wondering how the heck did the ancient Mayan civilizations just vanish. There are numerous uncovered temples and plazas that give you just a small glimpse into what was once a thriving society. A must see if you are anywhere near Flores.

Saw this on a guided tour with a group. There is a nice structure there that is part of the greater Tikal area. Take some time to explore, get a guide, there is a lot learn.

This is my favorite area in the park at Tikal for spotting wildlife. What you see really varies with the time of day; if you're especially interested in birding and viewing wildlife, consider hiring a good guide for a dawn tour and heading here instead of to Temple IV.

This is a most interesting complex principally centered around The Great Pyramid (partially excavated and restored) which you can climb to view the sunset. It is much more massive (but lower) than the Temples I-V, and more akin to the pyramids at Yaxha. The other interesting ruins are the Talud-Tablero Pyramid and the Temple of the Skulls. They are surrounded... More

We are asked to review all temples in Tikal, but I cannot . All sites in Tikal are awe inspiring. The entire park is really overwhelming. If you ever consider Tikal, please go!

El Mundo Perdido - Lost World - is 1 of our favorite early morning haunts at Tikal. Lots of wildlife!

The structures of this site is different, because of the influence of another culture that conquered and governed the place for a short time.

This area had lots of wildlife as well. We spotted Tucans whilst the monkeys were climbing in the trees. Also many other birds.
