Guatemala's post office is reestablishing its services after a 3 year period stop. The building is unique in its architectural style and its arch is an iconic picture of Guatemala's downtown. Many prossesions cross that Arch f during lent and its quite close to central park. I recommend visiting the street of the Post office.

While visiting the historic center of Ciudad de Guatemala, this awesome building will certainly catch your attention. This is the "Palacio de Correos", the main post office of the country's capital city. It was designed by Guatemalan architect and engineer Rafael Pérez de León and was inaugurated on November 10, 1940. It is clearly inspired by the famous "Arco de Santa Catalina" in Antigua (Guatemala) and represents the perfect fusion of 1930-1940's neo colonial and art deco styles. The monumental arch over 12ª Calle, in Zone 1, is one of the most pictured tourist attractions of Ciudad de Guatemala. A great frame for selfies! No wonder, due to its beauty and architectural richness, the "Edificio de Correos Central" was appointed as a Guatemalan National Cultural Heritage Site! Unmissable! Enjoy!

Filled with history, trendy spots, and busy life, I would highly recommend a visit to Guatemala City. You will enjoy natural beauty, Mayan culture, and wonderful Guatemalan coffee! ☕

In the Spring of 2020, I was on a business trip to Guatemala City. I took the opportunity to explore the architecture and culture of Zones 1, 4, and 10. They did not disappoint!

If you start with Zine 1, don't miss the Edificio de Correos. Within its walls you will find student artwork on display, an impromptu orchestral rehearsal, ballet dancers at practice, and pristine grounds!

If you can't take a self guided tour, take a snapshot of the historical arch. This magnificent edifice provides a stunning backdrop for selfies.

We were just walking around, exploring the area and we came across this arch, very nice in the middle of the city, we did not know what it was until we search online. Very nice view!

Having come for Antigua it was really interesting to see this Edificio de Correos Central as I believe that the original was just along from the hotel we stayed in the world heritage site. The building look stunning and great for pictures.

While Guatemala no longer has a functioning mail system that is ran out of here it is still known as the central mail station. The architecture of this building is beautiful. There are tours of this place but we did not go. Just seeing the outside was gorgeous.
