We were birding here and saw the Cara Cara flying along the main highway as well as landing on the highway before we approached the Reserve. One highlight was a Red-Capped Manakin.

Crested Caracara Private Reserve is a great place to observe many bird species. It gets its name from being the location of the longest-known nest site of the Crested Caracara in Belize. It is the only place I have observed the Crested Caracara in Belize. But there are also many other species on site, both north and south of the Western (George Price) Highway, from large raptors to small hummingbirds with lots in between. Expert guides are available. Make sure to call in advance for arrangements as there is a gate to the property - 501-610-4524. There is camping with showers available and there is a large thatch building with a great deck and view to the north which also has electricity. I look forward to returning next year!…
