I wouldn't say that this is a must do but it's walking distance from the Cahal Pech ruins, Ajaw Chocolate, and Jalapenos restaurant (where we went to lunch just before). So we did all of these in one day, on foot, and we had a great time. I wouldn't recommend it to non animal lovers. But we both are and... More

Hands on experience with adult and juvenile iguanas. They harvest the eggs, raise and release into the wild. Your nominal entry fee supports their conservation efforts. That said, they are mostly wild and you will most likely get scratched if you handle them. They'll crawl on or try to get off you, and their claws are pretty sharp so be... More

If you're walking around the town of San Ignacio, this is an easy, inexpensive, and fun stop to make. We loved visiting the San Ignacio Hotel, friendly staff, and, of course, the iguanas. The visit was informative and hilarious. Our guide grabbed my camera and acted as photographer as well, so we left with some great photos. Holding and playing... More

We stayed at the San Ignacio Resort with our three young children (9, 7, 5). The hotel offers tours every hour on the hour for $5 per person. We loved it so much we went twice! Nigel was incredibly patient with our three boys. Our oldest was a bit hesitant and Nigel took the time to sit with him and... More

Nigel was a great and informative guide. Great project to get behind and good fun for something to do with a spare hour or so.

We stayed at the San Ignacio Resort. The iguana habitat is located at the resort so it was really convenient. We had so much fun holding and feeding the iguanas. They were super friendly too. The guide was very knowledgeable also. Highly recommend.

Up close and personal with iguanas. All the facts and insight you could possibly want. The tour guides are know their stuff and are quite engaging. Questions are encouraged, and answered completely. A once in a lifetime experience, unless you go back again with friends. Don't miss it if you're in San Ignacio. Located inside the San Ignacio Resort Hotel.

My wife and I took a ride up to the top of the hill to visit the iguana sanctuary. We got there for the last tour and had Nigel. He was awesome. I recommend doing this, as you can't beat the price. It's a great addition to the end of the day. Do not plan on spending more than an... More

I absolutely loved the Iguanas. I want to return and volunteer at this center if at all possible! You get lots of opportunities to pet the iguanas, they are very friendly. They crawl all over you. Wear bright colors so they think you're a piece of fruit : ) Very reasonable, only $9 U.S.
