The adventure to Rio on Pools and Big Rock Falls is nothing short of exciting. I would first like to say that all the reviews stating how rough the roads are on Mountain Pine Ridge are accurate. With a rental car, you should expect to go slow at about 20 mph tops. This makes for a long, bumpy drive and... More

Beautiful spot introduced to us by some friendly locals. Several small waterfalls empty into deep pools one can jump into. Several more shallow pools for paddling in. Great to cool off in on a hot day. Picnic spot with spectacular views. No public toilets, be prepared to take a nature pee.

This area is part of the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. It is tricky to get to with the roads so I would encourage having a guided tour to see more than this site as well. The Rio On Pools are great for swimming so take your bathing suit. It might be tricky for children or seniors due to the slippery... More

Like so much of Belize, these pools are beautiful and completely accessible. It was a refreshing stop with kids after a hot day of hiking. Not crowded so exploring was fun.

We stopped here, like everyone else, on the way back from Caracol. It's a great stop after a hot day at the ruins and hours on rough bumpy roads. It's free, refreshing, and beautiful. We climbed a little higher upstream and felt like we had some private pools to ourselves. There are two doorless changing stalls and that's it. Bring... More

We visited the upper pools, which were fairly easy to access from the road. We all had fun sliding from one pool to the other on natural waterslides. Great for families with older kids, not so much for little ones. So many attractions were out of our price range with a family of 5.

We got there after Caracol on a sunny day and it was gorgeous. We didn’t feel like swimming but did wade and it was very nice – great place for a picnic.

This is a good place to visit if you're on your way back from Caracol. I don't think I'd make a special trip out there from San Ignacio unless you're really into swimming in a river. We stopped by there with some little kids coming back from Caracol and it was a hit.

It is a journey to get there and yes the roads are rough but once you are there this place is really nice. Cool waters and the scenery was amazing. We arrived later in the day and practically had it to ourselves. There is a need for caution because the rocks are slippery . Also if you are coming in... More

The pools are incredible whether you are viewing them from afar at the upper level parking lot, or from close up if you take one of the two paths to get to them! Clear water, beautiful boulders and sparkling falls make this a great spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts! The steps down to the lower pools are steep and... More
