I visit this often to either bike, canoe, kayak, paddle board and wind surf. They have rentals but be prepared to wait in line a long time. They also aren't very good at keeping people from swimming where there are boats coming in. The beach is very close but parents are constantly letting their kids swim in the boat area.... More

What a great place to spend a warm summer day. You can rent a paddleboard or a water Trike. Hit the swim beach or go for a walk around on the paved trail. Something for everyone there is even an archery range.

We enjoy kayaking and beaching it here all summer. It is not crowded like the other larger Denver area reservoirs. Great family spot for picnics, swimming, stand up paddleboarding, or just sitting on the beach. Picnic tables and shade shelters are available.

This is a beautiful spot to enjoy some BBQ, family time, swim, etc. The water is clear and the beach is fun to hang out on. I definitely recommend this place for any occasion!

I grew up in Aurora and visited the reservoir many times as a kid. What once seemed so far away on Quincy, is now nearly on the eastern edge of the city. The 8 mile hike around the reservoir is great exercise. I highly suggest doing it. However, be careful of rattlesnakes. I encountered one while hiking with my dad... More

What a nice place to get away from the city. Very clean. Gets busy on weekends. There is a hiking / biking trail that goes all around the reservoir, that is about 8 miles. It's usually breezy out there but that's nice on hot summer days. The fishing is hit or miss. I have fished all day and had nothing,... More

Kayaking has been on my list of things to do for years and I finally had the opportunity to take lessons at the Aurora Reservoir. I'd never been to the reservoir before despite living in the Denver area. It's peaceful, other than noise from airplanes headed to and from Denver International Airport, the reason for 4 out of 5 stars.... More

Bought a kayak for my husband's birthday and decided to have its maiden voyage at Aurora Reservoir. We had looked at Quincy (small and not impressive for more than fishing), and Chatfield (far from our home in Elizabeth and we read some reviews that indicated poor water quality). By contrast, Aurora water and beaches were very clean, facilities well- maintained,... More
