We rented bikes in Aspen and set off on the Rio Grande Bike Trail. We rode all the way to the town of Basalt. It is mostly downhill so even though it was 20 miles to the town of Basalt, it was not very hard....More

Aspen to Glenwood Springs - a wonderful bike/hike/run path. You will see beautiful homes along the Roaring Fork River. You will through Woody Creek--stop at the famous Woody Creek Tavern for burger and beer. Then though historic Basalt--small restaurants and shops to see. Then onto...More

I rode my bike on a 10 mile section around Carbondale and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The path is beautifully and smoothly paved and has stunning views throughout. It's mostly flat with slight variations in elevation.

This is walk that can be easy or more difficult. It is mainly flat, along the river; but, you can make it more strenuous by walking more miles The scenery is gorgeous all along the walk.

I rode bikes on this trail. We stopped often for photo ops. The trail was an easy downhill trail. We were rewarded with a great lunch at Woody Creek Tavern at the end. We got a ride back to Aspen.

You will pass by a few towns. We stopped and had lunch in Basalt- that is where I would check for hotels and B&Bs...kind of a mid point on the trail. We stopped for coffee @ Bonfire Roasters in Carbondale, another cute town.
