For a day hike this is a simple hike. If one wishes to hike to the Conundrum Hot Springs that requires a two day investment, and sleeping out one night. Hot Springs too easily reached, and too many people there, and not "remote" enough.

Great family hike through one of the most beautiful areas of Aspen: open fields full of wildflowers, roaring river, fauna (we saw a moose this time) and breathtaking views of the mountains...

The hike leads to hot springs (which are delightful), but the wonders of the valley itself are enough to recommend this hike. There are some interesting creek crossings, and some long- abandoned mine equipment, and enough solitude to let the hiker remember that towns have been left very far behind. The challenges and discoveries of the day may include finding... More

Our group hit Aspen from sea level so used Conundrum Creek trail as a great hike swimming in wild flowers. We went to the first log bridge and return for 5 miles RT. Good altitude gain and equally good trail, well marked. Gradual not steep. Lots of hikers carrying backpacks for overnight camping and soaking in the hot springs which... More

First you start with Aspen's 300 days of sunshine and then enter the trail head at a small and often crowded parking area. Get there early. The first thing you encounter is a meadow of wild flowers and then you start a very modest ascent. We hiked to the bridge, which took about 2 hours, because we stopped and chatted... More

It might be high, it might be long, you will do a lot of climbing and you better be in shape but ohh la la, the joys of soaking away in natural hot springs above timberline with Hummingbirds looking you in the faced is worth every aching muscle and blister.

You don’t have to hike the 8.5 miles to the hot springs to enjoy this hike with your family, although it is an incredible hike if you decide to hike all the way to Crested Butte and visit the hot spring pools half way. The trail starts off gently and parallels the creek through meadows of wildflowers. The trailhead to... More
