Visited Maroon Bells in late September, the peak season for viewing the beautiful golden color the aspen trees changed to during this time. It was very crowded. The paid parking at the Aspen Highlands was full so we had to find roadside parking. The shuttle ride to Maroon Lake from Aspen Highlands cost $8 per ticket and the driver gave... More

Visited the Bells 3 times while visiting Aspen. The weather didn't cooperate but I did manage to get a few good pics. Beautiful to see the mountains in person.

We decided to drive up to Aspen from Denver to see Maroon Bells. We missed the peak color but it was still a beautiful hike!

One of the great things of Maroon Bells is that you do not need to be on the best shape to see the first lake, which happens to be one of the most photographed peaks in the country. You can get there during summer time on the city bus which is around $7 per person between 8am to 5pm. If... More

This is an iconic site for a reason. Gorgeous in fall with the colors. Not too crowded once you take the paths farther from the lake. Recommend parking farther away and riding your bike up to the resort to catch the bus (required in peak color season since private cars can't make the drive). We took our dogs on the... More

Take a walk and get away from the crowds. Many of the visitors go no further than the lake, so head past the end of the lake on one of the hiking trails.

We made it to the park before the 8am car cutoff time and were very glad we did. At that time the trails are much less crowded and you have more of a chance to enjoy the beautiful hike, which takes you through multiple different mountain environments.
