Same great views as down by Maroon Lake (Crater Lake is just a bit further up the same valley), but with far fewer people. A moderately difficult 45 minute hike, but not too terrible and definitely well worth it. Pack a lunch and make at...More

There was a lot of snow when we hiked this trail in June. The trail length is very deceiving! It seemed like we walked FOREVER to get to the lake. There were many times when we could not fully see the trail because of the...More

This was one of the most scenic hikes I have ever taken. Walking on snow and yet feeling hot in Tees. It was not a hard hike at all. You have to climb a few hundred feet so if not from Colorado, pace yourself breathing....More

This was one of the many trails that we hiked. The trail was in good condition and there were great views. We were there in the fall to see the leaf color changes and we weren't disappointed. Late September seems to be a good choice...More

The trail was a little difficult due to the snow. But if you don't care about falling on your butt a few times it's 100% worth the time and effort to take this trail and enjoy the view at the very end.

HIke: I consider myself to be athletic and this hike was tough. Very rocky! Be prepared to have the proper footwear. Those hiking in flip flops - Beware!! Very slippery and rocky which is a combination for a really bad sprained ankle or fall. I...More

We love to hike, but this one was not our favorite, It's a long hike up, a moderate trail, very rocky and uneven hiking, and you arrive after all your effort to find a dry lake bed. Very disappointed we spent several hours for that....More

Thought that this hike would be easy from Maroon Lake and didn't realize a lot of hike was over loose rock. Great view when you get there but must wear good hiking shoes. People in running shoes were complaining and those in street shoes either...More

I thought this trail was a walking trail? From your comment, it seems that it's an off-road driving trail? Is that right? I'm confused. Appreciate any help. I'm planning to be there next week. Thanks!

There is a parking lot at Maroon Lake. During the summer you can drive up before 8 am. After 8 am it's by bus. The hike to Crater Lake starts here. In May it took us an hour and a half because of snow.
How long does the hike take? Someone told me 7 hrs but the reviews I read here didn't take near that long. Thanks!

It took us about 4 1/2 hours to make the complete circle, and we' went really slow. I think most people were completing it in around 3 hours.
