My Favorite of the 3 Ski Mountains I visited in Aspen

Lets start this off and say this is not a mountain for beginners. I might even go so far to say it would be challenging for early intermediates. This is good and bad. Its... read more

Not as posh as I expected. Not a great mountain for finding high speed lift with a couple of nice runs. The best areas are served by fixed grips.

Lets start this off and say this is not a mountain for beginners. I might even go so far to say it would be challenging for early intermediates. This is good and bad. Its bad if you are just starting out and don't get to experience this. But its good in all other respects. There were fewer people when I... More

Stunning scenery within an easy gondola/ski lift ride from Aspen town. Good range of dining options at restaurant with surprisingly tasty fare. Suitable for intermediate to expert skiers with blue to double black diamond runs.

Okay--you've made the decision- we are finally going to Aspen and Snowmass to ski. Well you must set aside one day to ski the famous iconic AJAX mountain in downtown Aspen. The gondola ride gets you to the top, and you can have coffee on the Sundeck. But you must ski all of this historic iconic mountain. Note it is... More

Drinks and food are great. Service is a little lacking as they are so crazy busy. Best Bloody Mary and Truffle fries.

Ajax is a great mountain with lots of variety for intermediate and expert skiers. Nice amenities. Love Ruthie's run and that side of the mountain for a bit of a challenge. Beginners, off to Buttermilk!

Took the gondola up and sat for a spell in the lodge. Very nice and the views in the dining area are spectacular.

I love Aspen and the skiing is a bit crowded on the big weeks but the snow is terrific and there is so much to see in the town. Best cafes and fun night life. Amazing shopping too, of course.

We stopped here to have a drink and enjoy the view. Our waitress was delightful and talked with us at length about the area. We even saw a bear on the mountain as we sat there.
