This is one of the most breathtaking Highway to drive, so beautiful, even in middle September when it can already be cold, windy and stormy with little bit of snow. Can not imagine how it must even look during summer time. It was so worth it to take the extra miles to drive from Yellowstone to Cokie City over the... More

We drove from Cooke City to Red Lodge in sunshine although the weather closed in and the pass was closed the following day. So check the forecasts and do it when you can! The scenery was stunning and there are plenty of pullouts so that you can take lots of photos.

I read about this road and found videos of it taken on GoPros on YouTube, and I can tell you that nothing really prepares you for how spectacular it is in person. The late Charles Kuralt from CBS labeled it as the most beautiful road in America and I'd have to agree although I've been on others as spectacular but... More

It's so great!! I want to ride it again! We rode motorcycles from Red Lodge to Cooke City. I wished we had time to ride back to Red Lodge so at least I could see everything from the other direction! Not kidding on how hell-roaring windy it is at the upper elevations, but it's so beautiful. AND thankfully not much... More

I have backpacked throughout Glacier National Park, driven through the Alps and seen quite a few mountains around the world, but for a spectacular drive and incredible mountain scenery the road between Yellowstone Park and Red Lodge, Montana over the Beartooth Highway is almost impossible to beat. Take your time, take lots of photos too and just enjoy nature at... More

We were on our way into Yellowstone from Billings, MT and took the Beartooth Highway. It is a very beautiful drive with many spots to pull off to take scenic pictures. The switchback roads were neat! We would definately take this route again. It was an easy drive into the NE entrance of Yellowstone.

This highway is truly amazing. Carved into the mountain side, up and over the top to the other side. Don't be in a hurry; stop at the pull outs and take in the beautiful vistas. It takes at least two hours to drive from Red Lodge to Cooke City, Montana. There are lots of lakes and opportunities to get off... More

I have heard that this has been called the most scenic highway in America - that might be an exaggeration, but it's wonderful nevertheless. It takes longer that you might expect from the mileage both because you won't go too fast and because you'll want to stop for views and pictures. The switchbacks are amazing - it's fun to look... This road scared me half to death so for most folks that's a plus. The scenery is incredible and I will never forget this drive, my hand prints are still in the wheel of my car since I was grabbing it so tight! The road was closed the day prior to us driving it, too much snow to keep up... More
