Visited Politics and Prose on a Saturday morning. This is a great bookstore and cafe that has that "old school feel." Excellent selection of sandwiches, pastries, and coffees in he cafe. I found the book selection to be expansive across categories. Given that this bookstore...More
A Washington institution. Fabulous authors speak here every day. Current owners have expanded and improved the store and its offerings in many ways. Great vibe and cafe. Good classes offered. Support your local gems like this!
This is a very nice place to just sit around, do some reading and catch up on work. The food is also very, very good. My friends and I had quite a wide selection of food and all of it was very tasty. I recommend...More
If you like book stores, don't miss this one. My sister and her friend were always raving about this place and I finally went to see it. Fabulous old-style book store where you can spend hours just browsing. They have a coffee bar downstairs that...More
What a treat to find an old-fashioned neighborhood bookstore still alive and well and obviously profitable in a world of amazons and Barnes and Nobles. The branch I visited had an author giving a book talk to children from a neighborhood school and the bulletin...More

I consistently get excellent service at Politics & Prose, whether I'm calling about an online order or visiting in person. I have dropped by the store twice in search of books for my friends' children, and both times the staff were quickly able to identify...More

I have attended several events over the years. I do not recall numbered tickets. Seating is first come first served. For very popular authors, the organizers have shifted the venue to an auditorium. Most authors stay to sign all books, but I lack the data or universal experience to know that all do. Very popular authors will have a stack of pre signed books, which you may buy but the autograph will not be personalized.
