As I have been out of DC ofr 30 years, the changes have suprised me. Of course Lafayette park is still there with its beautiful historic statues and fountains. The difference is it is very clean now. No tents of homeless or drug users. I...More

The approach to view the back of the White House is via Lafayette Square, which has some pretty gardens and statues. One of note is Andrew Jackson, an American soldier and statesman, who served as the seventh President of the United States. Combine with a...More

While visiting Washington, we stopped by Lafayette Square. We were quite surprised to see the square completely closed off by a chain link fence. I did find out that they are working on the landscaping in the park; so, the fence is just temporary. This...More

Beautiful park right next to the White House, but kinda of obscure to the hubbub of the White House. It has some beautiful statues honoring foreign nationals that help during the Revolution. Nice quiet park.

If the park was anywhere else it would just be a kinda dirty park with a giant statue of Andrew Jackson. But it's right across from the White House so it's cool.

Lafayette Square affords a beautiful view of the front of the White House. A nice place to meet up with friends or just sit on a bench and relax.
