The exterior is pretty impressive (modeled on the ancient Mausoleum at Halicarnassus) but the interior is even more over-the-top, with lots of highly-polished marble and elaborate decoration. Most of the building is not air-conditioned but is still pretty tolerable in the Washington heat. Tour guide was friendly and informative. Tours are offered at the top of the hour, 10-4PM (call... Good for anyone involved in Freemasonry, people curious about Freemasonry, or just love beautiful architecture. Free guided tour given by an intern. He/she will show you the architecture and explain why the building was built the way it was. Everything was built with a purpose or reason. The tour takes you through the chambers that are still utilized to run... More

Whether you are a Freemason or not, this temple is awesome. We took the guided tour and were impressed around every turn. Each room was more awesome than the last. There is history to be learned here. The large entry hall at the beginning of the tour was spectacular. The central hall/meeting room was great. We took the Metro out... More

What a stunning temple! The craftsmanship is outstanding. We took a free tour throughout the entire temple. They allow you amazing access considering the private nature of the Masons. Just beautiful!

When we arrived with no previous agenda, they offered a free guided tour. The person was very well informed and the tour very interesting. The building is amazing and worth it the visit. Very recommended.

I called on Tuesday December 29th specifically to make sure it would be open for tours today (Dec 30, aka New Years' Eve Eve). The woman on the phone told me to come by between 10am-noon, and that I could join a tour at 11. I took time off work, Ubered to the location, and was informed at 10:55 by... More

We walked in off the street and were immediately offered a tour. Both our dads were Masons, so it was interesting to see the museum, view what each of the (33)? Degrees stands for, see the temple and meeting rooms and a big library that is open daily to the public.

this is a very impressive building and an informative tour. i went one day, but they were closing early because of the problems the popes tour was going to cause people in getting home. the guard asked a young mason who was familiar with the building to give me a quick tour which he did, with a good explanation. next...
