Beautiful Place
Sep 2021
This is a quiet, beautiful place that has MLK quotes on the walls. A nice spot to reflect on some of our country's history

A dream of peace….
Sep 2021 • Family
I have visited many places that are significant to the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King.  However, I have long desired to see Dr. King’s memorial in Washington.  The monument is enormous and the sheer size represents what this man’s sacrifices meant for all people in the United States.  Dr. King dreamed of a world were all people could live in peace and harmony and so the size of this monument is indeed symbolic of his dream for peace.
Our tour guide indicated that the bottom of the monument has an unfinished look because it is the artist’s belief that Dr. King’s work was unfinished.  That statement definitely made me think because art often is a reflection of life.
I immensely enjoyed seeing the monument at night because it is absolutely beautiful when illuminated.  In addition, the illuminated monument is a reminder to me that light can never be overcome by darkness.  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of a better world for all and so this monument pays homage to his work, struggles, sacrifices, and accomplishments.  Take a moment to visit Dr. King’s monument because it will definitely make you stop to think about one man’s dream to make our nation a better place for all.

Open to all and easy to get to. Beautifully designed. A great place to reflect on how far our nation has come and how far we must still go.

Respect!
Sep 2021
On the wall, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" which as an animal rights activist speaks to me: we are one, not this race or that, not this gender or that, not abled or not, not one species or another, but all should be respected and all injustice should be fought vigorously. Afterwards, I went for a vegan burger at Ben's Chili Bowl, black owned great business, DC institution. 3 locations now! Go vegan!

Beautiful At Night When Lighted
Aug 2021
This memorial to Martin Luther King Jr. is amazing. It is an amazing piece of art surrounded by quotes from some of his iconic speeches. At night, the statue is lighted and can be seen across the water from the Jefferson Memorial. It is an amazingly beautiful sight!

Daytime vs night
Aug 2021
Impressive even at night, but not lit well enough to read all the quotes. His statue is magnificent and lit.
This will be a daytime stop in the future.

A Terrific memorial
Aug 2021
Worth the stop and reading all the walls. Talk to the park rangers. They can add so much to the experience. When you take a picture, have the people stand near the photographer. Otherwise, you won't see them. The statue is massive, and your subjects will be meer specks.
