Loved discovering this movie chain while visiting DC last year. Great "art" films, documentaries, non-English language films. Screens are small but makes it feel like a screening room from my Hollywood days. They had a excellent selection of snacks and beverages including beer, wine and MEAD!

My wife and I recently saw the movie Lion at this theater. We originally planned to see Silence but that movie was sold out on a Saturday. Fortunately there were other movies to see. Only complaint was the small movie screen-not nearly as nice as the Uptown Movie theater. This theater does show the hard to find movies like Silence... More

This theater is nice. Some of the smaller theater rooms are very quaint. The concessions are great for options to include cocktails however the service is very slow. The theater is very clean (including the restroom).

This theater seems to get some of the more Indie films you can’t find in other locations. Visiting from out of town, we saw the movie Jackie, as it was not showing back at home. The guy running the ticket desk when you first walk in was extremely nice, even asking us if we qualified for the senior citizen or... More

I'm in DC again for the week and wanted to catch up on a few movies before the Golden Globes next week. I didn't partake but they apparently sell alcohol as well. It's conveniently located near either the Metro Center or Gallery Place stops. The address is listed as 555 11th St NW but the theater is located on E... More

From the outside the Theater looks small, but go into the building and down one flight of stairs, and you'll find a large lobby and m underground multiplex. The range of movies appears to combine both standard first-run films and independent and artsy-types. The available beverages include a range of beers and wines as well as more typical theater fare... More

Nice theater that pretty much only shows independent and foreign films. Not stuff you see in mainstream theaters. They also have a bar and a unique menu for a theater. Of course you can get typical popcorn or nachos, but they also have stuff like chicken eggrolls, crab cakes, and tandoori chicken skewers which is kind of a nice change!

Interesting showcase of not your obvious everywhere films in a setting that is quite a surprise...clean, large, filled w/amenities (including beer/wine and a lounge and not the usual junk food), pleasant staff and all-around nice atmosphere. The place for the off-beat movie in a setting that makes the visit worthwhile.

E St. Cinema is the home of eclectic movies, mostly foreign and indie films, as well as films with cult followings and regular special showings/events. Basically, it's a great place for interesting movies that are difficult to find elsewhere. There are several nice, clean theaters, with widely varying sized and figurations -- the larger ones are more normal theaters, while... More

I went here for the first time last night and loved the movie we saw. We liked the option to buy drinks and more stylish food at the lounge / concessions before the movie began, but the theatre itself needed a major face lift. The seats were old and shabby and I felt like there was a bar digging into... More
