The view outside is stunning. We took lots of pictures, but were disappointed that the monument is closed for repairs. Maybe next time.

You can't go to DC and not see this up close. It was a nice walk as part of the National Mall and we enjoyed seeing it in person. The elevator is still closed for repairs, so we just viewed from the outside on a...More

Perhaps one of the most recognizable monument in the United States, or at least Washington DC. Monument was under renovation/repair during our visit but still a neat sight to see. Very close to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

The Washington Monument is very impressive - visible from much of the city. It is quite inspiring. Unfortunately the elevator is closed for repair at least until 2019, if not longer; so access is denied. Great pity as it must have spectacular views.

I’ve always found this monument kind of boring when seen on TV or in photos, and I guess I still feel that way. If you don’t tour inside to the top (which we didn’t – and its often closed), there’s not much to make of...More

Awesome structure that I viewed from afar as hubby and I were driving by to utilize our 3 free hours. At night time, from the Potomac River, this looked gorgeous!

I was in DC for business and wondered around after dinner at night. The monuments are so beautiful at night, but being that DC is not very safe I recommend finding someone to walk around with. I walked around with another female who I met...More

Soaring 555 ft 1/8 in high of marble, granite and limestone is an obelisk honoring our first President George Washington. Around the base are 56 U.S. flags representing the 50 states and six territories. About 130 feet up the marble has a different color because...More

Typically cancellations are done at the Visitor Centrex or at the Park Rangers Office. I have seen it being done at Visitor Centrex in some places though I have not done it .
