This Washington, D.C., bus tour is an affordable way to plan a day or two of sightseeing in the US capital. Instead of figuring out routes between main attractions, such as the White House and Arlington National Cemetery, book a bus tour with two routes. Move through D.C. at your own pace and stop at the sights that interest you. The 2-day pass includes admission to Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum.

Having been to Jefferson Memorial before I still couldn’t miss a chance to visit it again as my stay in DC provided me with some free time. Notwithstanding the fact that they are doing restoration work on the cupola and the roof and the outside of the building is covered in scaffolding and the outside doesn’t look as magnificent as usually, the place is full of the feeling of grandeur and awe. The inside is as impressive as ever and the presence of the great man is almost palpable. This being off season, I happened to be entirely alone there and it was such a great feeling as if I was listening to Jefferson reading out his words that are captured there on the panels. This memorial appears to me to be a deserving tribute to one of the greatest minds not only of his time but rather of all times.

We saw from the interstate that the monument is having work done, particularly the roof. There is scaffolding all around it yet you can go inside. Traveling at this time of year was to almost have these open monuments void of the typical crowds. This monument is quite a distance from the others but worth the effort to get here. We had no trouble with parking, again due to the time of year of this visit ~ cold weather, I recommend you dress warm and wear comfortable shoes. One thing a little frustrating was the signs for the shop / museum underneath the statue that indicated it was open but it was not. Per the times posted clearly on the door, it should have been opened. No one in sight!? We were able to use the restroom facilities as they were not locked. Later we saw a park ranger on the steps speaking to a couple but I have no idea where she came from.

Highly recommend booking a bike tour to see this memorial and the many others in D.C.. There are so many fun details, facts, and history you would miss out on without a tour.

As a lifelong Washingtonian, I’ve been to the memorial hundreds of times. With no real ability to travel far because of Covid, we decided to bike down and pretend that we were tourists in our own town. First of all, the monument is being restored, which is a good thing, but it looks very strange with the scaffolding. Layer on top of that the fact that the entire place was deserted on a summer Friday afternoon, and it looks like a real-world apocalyptic movie.
