I visited for first time the Catskill's to photograph the Kaaterskill Falls and for my surprise I found the river all frozen, it was an amazing experience to see an entire river frozen. We walked also to the Kaaterskill Falls and it was an amazing sight. The waterfalls are only one mile from the parking lot.

Balsam Lake Mountain in Highmount area has an easy trail to the top of it's 3700 foot peak. Great views from the fire tower! Great Day hike!

The drive up to Hunter is not a quick one, but the landscape is spectacular: the valleys, and mountains, the waterfall and the trails. The small towns scattered in the region are quaint and quiet. They told us the busiest season is during winter when the skiers are taking over all the cabins, motels and B&Bs. But if you enjoy... More

First, we were blessed with fantastic weather. We booked late and so settled for Thursday and Friday evenings in the North South Lake Campground near Tannersville, NY. The campground was large, very well spaced, one of the nicest wooded settings I've seen. My wife used the shower with no complaints, we did not really use the lake area much but... More
