Not for people who want to travel from Montreal to NYC in a reasonable amount of time, by modern standards. But if you have a day to spend and don't mind rumbling along at 25 mph, the scenery is pretty nice, seats are roomy and...More

We almost passed on this train ride after reading the reviews. It is a long but very scenic ride. The park service has people on board who give a very informative talk along the Hudson River Valley that is worth attending in the dining car....More

I booked this trip because my nearly 7 y.o. loves trains and we thought it would be a nice scenic trip and we wanted to explore Montreal, which we spent 5 days doing. It was very reasonable at $115 round-trip each and while the trip...More

Wow - the scenery heading south from Montreal is just stunning. I love train trips and this was just great. We got off at Saratoga Springs which was probably a good thing as I am not rating my trip from Albany to Penn Station as...More

A two hour excursion turned into a 13 hour nightmare. Could have walked back to Saratoga quicker than the train. Poor communication; no customer support. I did not take the ride from. Penn Station to Rennselear (Albany). My advice; get off at Albany. DO NOT...More

We knew the journey would take 11 hours but add an hour and a half for the tortuous last 2 and a quarter hours. Something to do with the heat! The scenery is lovely but not stunning. Waited over an hour at the passport check...More

The views are nice - the rest is well, almost laughably, awful. If you are a European and expect a TGV or ICE class express train, be in for a Slow and Dirty shock. The Amtrak Adirondack train from NYC to Montreal arrived 2 hours...More

We took this ride from Montreal to NYC after a cruise. As seniors, we were treated royally and put in the early boarding line - even though we are youngish seniors and not in any physical trouble (although I was suffering from sciatica at the...More

The river is on the left, but Lake Champlain is on the right. I'd sit on the left because the train will pretty much empty at Albany.
