An amazing trail system and extremely well signed. I loved the trails and was grateful they had restrooms. Well worth coming here! I hiked several trails and ended up doing a 4 mile loop - had it not been so well signed it would have...More

Breathtaking views...touched by Mother Nature. Climbs up to about 6,200 feet. As you drive, you will continue to climb. From desert to a forest of Ponderosa Pines. You will cross the Continental Divide. There's a lot of curves and our average speed was 20-30mph. As...More

This is a beautiful drive to the Gila Cliff dwellings. The road thru the forest has many, many twists and turns. Take time to enjoy the forest and the Gila River. Be careful not to ride the brakes or they will overheat!

Drive was beautiful but our rental's brakes started smoking. Had to learn how to down shift. About 30 miles of winding up and down roads with stunning scenery. Saw a roadrunner and some weird lizards. The hike to dwellings is completely worth it

We have been here twice. The first time was to visit the Cliff Dwellings, but it was so pretty that this summer we spent a week backpacking there. Since you follow the river, you have ample access to water (be sure to filter it for...More

Trail of the Mountain Spirits is so wonderful that I have been back three times specifically to show family and friends that. There is an overwhelming amount of stuff to see...you couldn't do it all in a lifetime. :)

The Gila National Forest is over 3 million acres. Buy gas before you get into this area: there are gas stations in small towns around the perimeter of the Forest but they are spread out. Make sure you take extra water in case you break...More
