We stayed one night in the RV park and it was great. The sunset was amazing. Each site was very level and clean. Each site offered a covered table area on concrete. The park was quiet at night, and the rangers passed through often. We did not have a dump connection at our site; however, there is a dump station... More

Originally. we arranged a week stay at Rock Hound when we were tentatively scheduling other sites for our trip from Columbus, Ohio to Phoenix. Not knowing how spacious the campsite would be, how helpful the campground employees are (special kudos to David,) and how beautifully the restroom/ shower house and visitor center architecture compliment the SW landscape; our plans only... This is a really pleasant campground: friendly staff, large sites, clean facilities. But don't count on finding any treasures. There are so many rocks. Even with the identification information at the visitor center, the rocks all start looking alike after awhile. If you do rock hound, take precautions: hiking boots, sunblock, water, etc. Also consider a hard hat if working... More

Good place to camp, modern amenities, you are aloud to take rocks with you. The view is amazing and lots of space so you're not crowded

The short drive from Deming to the park is well worth the trip. The park has a very nice visitor center with helpful staff. There are short hikes and the views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular. If you are into collecting rocks, there are Thunderegg beds higher up on the mountains. Jasper is readily available and collectible on the... More

A nice place to visit if you like to do a little bit of hiking and rockhounding! Be very careful with the rattlesnake's as well! And there is a little information center where you can get some of the information that you need to do a little bit of rock hounding & info on the hiking trails. you can also... More

Gorgeous views, friendly staff. Went looking for some special rocks but found a couple of rattle snakes and some very friendly snake wranglers. They let us watch how they catch the snakes and then told us about how they relocate them. The 3 year old loved that but a now wary mom decided that the rock hounding should come to... More

This little known state park near Deming, NM is a rare find. Beautiful scenery. Interesting visitor center. Several walking trails through the Northern Sonoran Desert. And, you are encouraged to pick up and even take with you samples of the rocks and minerals. There are good examples of - jasper, several quartzes, opal, azurite and more. Limited to 15 pounds... Spent three days at Rockhound State Park with my family. We arrived around 6pm and went straight to our reserved campsite. The sites are level with nice pea gravel if you are tent camping. We saw several ADA sites available as well. We had electric and water at our site, although they have sites without. Each site has a large... More

When we arrived at 6:30 the visitor center was closed but we left our $5 in the envelope at the sign and pulled in. The restrooms at the camp ground were really clean..the ones at the visitor center were closed. We started our hike and enjoyed ourselves and the views tremendously. I downloaded their trail map online so we knew... More
