It was our last day of vacation and we wanted to do something local. So, Island Beach State Park it was. Am I ever glad we did. It does cost $10 for non-residents to get in, but in my opinion, it was worth it. We saw a fox, which was the only "wildlife" was saw. I wanted to see some... More

Jersey shore is usually so busy and overcrowded, Island Beach State Park has stayed wild and preserved. It is so nice to enter a park without any buildings, hot dogs vendors... A day at the beach is peace and pure happiness.

Gorgeous beaches, clean... definitely a place you feel like you can escape from it all. The only problem are the flies. Went there once in August and it was spectacular. Best beach day by far... went with my husband and our dog. Perfect. Every day since then that we've ventured to Island Beach State Park the flies have been horrendous.... More

I've been coming to this beach since 1979 when my children were small and I continue to come with my grand babies any chance I get. Although times have changed this is still an affordable beach to come to with your family. Showers, dressing rooms and so much more. Remembering when they had a stand where you can rent umbrellas... Island Beach State Park is a beautiful beach. Most beaches charge per person, this beach charges per car. Bathrooms, showers are provided. There is a boardwalk that gets you onto the beach as well instead of walking over sand dunes. There are lifeguards as well. The water has been gorgeous this year. We come often and are not disappointed.

We went here for a daytrip on a Saturday in August with two teenager girls.IT does cost money to park but there are no beach badges so it was well worth it and probably cheaper in comparison. There are different beaches to, not just one so if the first lot is full, keep driving farther down. Sand is clean, water... More

Thus was my first trip to Island Beach State Park, and it is stunningly beautiful! Long, expansive beach, if you go down past the first couple of parking areas it's easy to have plenty of space. However, a previous reviewer mentioned that the west wind brings the flies and they were correct. Biting flies on anything that was stationary. Unless... More

Seriously? $20 to enter a beach?? Several friends recommended this beach to me and I was excited to try it. The $20 entrance fee was outrageous. Since we had planned to go there, we just sucked it up and went in. Part of why I selected this too was that there are showers. Showers were absolutely ridiculous. You would press... More

This is a family friendly beach location that offers many different things . You can go for the day and enjoy the bathing beaches or you can buy a season pass and drive out onto the beach to fish and spend the day . You can bring the pets too.... a really great day

Out of staters pay, per car, $20 weekend/holidays and $12 per weekday. Half that for NJ residents. This makes it quite affordable relative to the day-rates at the beaches. But more importantly, it is a family-friendly beach experience, particularly suite to families with pre-teen children. You can play ball or fly a kite in designated areas. The lifeguards are vigilant... More
