We went in August 2017 and stayed in Fish Camp. Thus, with Mariposa Grove closed for restoration, we had to find an alternative location to see Giant Sequoias. This place is a little bit out of the way (you have to get there on a...More

Near Tenaya Lodge just south of the Yosemite entry, there is a trio of trails here which allow for a very pleasant day outing. The hiking is moderate and on the way you will pass a good many Giant Sequoias. The hiking options include two...More

This is an easy hike through a grove of Giant Sequoias in the National Forest. We took our grandkids ages 10-16 and they loved it. Once you leave the paved road, the dirt road in is a bit hazardous and I would advise not taking...More

Be warned: this drive is not for the faint of heart. My husband and I drove up to Nelder Grove this afternoon, and the drive was both cumbersome and exhausting. We were in a Crossover SUV and there were some bumps/muddy pits/steep inclines we were...More

This review is not on the two options of Sequoias (Shadow of Giants or "Other" set of trails). It's to share my snafu in not seeing the sign for the "Other" set of trails (Big Ed Tree, Chimney ... etc.). So learn from my mistake,...More

Very shortly before the parking area and trailhead, the dirt road takes a sharp left with impassable ruts and mud (SUV 4WD). There was adequate room to park along the dirt road. One picnic bench, one Sequoia and a babbling brook is there to greet...More

This grove of giant Sequoia trees is absolutely beautiful and worth the drive. You will be away from the crowds of Yosemite and mostly by yourself. The grove is located up a very windy road off of Highway 49, south of Yosemite. The last mile...More
