The drive to the canyon trail is a bit longer, rougher and slower going than we expected - expect your car to get very dirty! Once there, the first part of the canyon hike is pretty and interesting, with the moss hanging from the side...More

It is an interesting hike, but not necessarily one that is worth the drive when you consider all of the cool things off 101. The road is in decent condition to get to Fern Canyon but it does take some time getting there. Also, if...More

This place is stunning provided you are prepared to get wet! The road leading to the canyon makes for a beautiful drive and the canyon itself is gorgeously covered with ferns. The real attraction though for me, is the prehistoric-looking and super-dense forest surrounding the...More

Beautiful canyon with walls covered with fern. We were there once when there was quite a big of water and we couldn't get too far because we didn't have the right boots. Second time we came prepared, brought shoes that we could get wet, but...More

Well worth the moddest park entrance fee--which is good for the day at other parks. There is dirt/gravel road access, but well worth the time it takes to get there.

It is nice to see but I guess my expectations were a bit too high. I did the walk in flip-flops and it was ok since you had to walk through water quite a lot. The fee for entrance to the park is $8. Bring...More

My boyfriend and I took my two sons (ages 5 and 7) to explore Fern Canyon. This is a trek filled with beautiful scenery and a whole lot of adventure! The gentle hike gives way to plank bridges over streams, clambering over felled trees, short...More

Having hiked to within 1 mile the day before from Prairie Creek on the James Levine trail turning back due to impending darkness, we decided to drive in from the Elk Prairie entrance. It's a difficult drive best done in 4wd. Fern Canyon is spectacular...More

Well worth the long bumpy road and the watery hike. Second time here. Also a very beautiful beach. A tent campground as well.

Lucky for us, we found a herd of elk resting on the bluffs before the short hike to Fern Valley. This is worth this scary drive up Davidson Road/Dirt Path and price to enter the park.
