Almost poetic
Sep 2018 • Couples
These iconic, almost poetic mountains are a natural wonder (not to mention a bird-watchers paradise), with great scenery and lots of history. They were home to the Chiricahua Apaches, who had a short-lived reservation here (before being deported to San Carlos). You can stroll, hike and drive - carefully - all the way through on unpaved roads to the National Monument. Don’t let the secret out too much though (alas, like I just did), these mountains are unspoiled.

What beauty in the Land of Standing Up Rocks!
Mar 2017 • Couples
You get a sense of unexpected beauty on your long drive to the park. Go to visitor center first. They were actually helpful. The drive up is a lot like the GOING TO THE SUN ROAD. Some pullouts. The hiking is so worth it. The rock formations were great. Reminded us of The Arches. Take lots of water and snacks for energy.

Wonderful camping getaway
Apr 2015 • Couples
The chihuahua are SO beautiful. We camped in a tent alongside a babbling brook. What a peaceful place to unplug from the world and enjoy the sounds of nature. Best place we ever camped.

It is a drive but worth it. We drive up the turkey creek road and it was very bumpy and long but beautiful! Many places to hike and camp

Icing on the cake
May 2012 • Couples
I won't lie. It is a long, very long drive out to the Chiricahua Rocks but well worth the trip. They are so fascinating to see and be around. Travel to the end of the road and walk the trail to a view point that overlooks the valley of these giants that resemble dollops of icing piled on top of each other. Column after column of these strange but magical rocks will amaze you. It's like looking at an accident. You can't not look and their formations and shapes will stay in your mind forever. What a wonderful country we live in to have these sorts of places available for our enjoyment.
