We took the tourist train up the valley from Trinidad and realy wished we hadn't. The countryside is pretty enough without being anything special and, as an event, the trip on the train is completely underwhelming. The trip costs 15 CUC per person and, if you must take it, tickets are available from the Ferrocarriles Trinidad office on the opposite... More

The train ride is interesting, nature is beautiful, but 2 stops for 1 hour on a hot sun are too much. Especially on the second stop, there is not much to do and the heat was terrible in the middle of the day. Nice, but could be shorter.

My friends and I went horse riding for about 3 hours in the Valle de los Ingenios, it was a great experience. Then a short hike to a natural water pool for a quick dip, the water was alittle cool but felt great. Back on our horses and then we stopped for a great lunch. I had the roasted pork... More

You take an old train along the valley and see great scenery and local villages. Lots of people selling poorly made souvenirs at exhorbitant prices all along the route. There are more and more tourist attractions like this in Cuba and things will get worse as the number of tourists rise in the coming years.

It was a very disappointing experience trying to get to Valle de los Ingenios: we waited for the train for about an hour and a half, but the train never started. It seems to be something normal. And of course, the "chief" at the station had a lot of friends with "colectivos" ready to pick up the dissapointed tourists. And... More

We were early so the house was not open and there was a guy who was charging 1 CUC/person to climb the tower...we would not be there and then as soon as you got near the stairs he would magically show up. Also, we encountered some very pushy men trying to for a falcon onto your shoulder so they could... More

We did the train trip through the Valle de los Ingenios, which leaves from Trinidad at 9:30am and costs $15CUC per person. It makes two stops along the way for an hour each, which is more than enough time. It's worth getting off quickly at the first stop, where you can climb the tower, because the line to climb up... this was a fun day trip on an old train - it was quite warm and the train moves pretty slowly, so it's good to bring a hat :) there is a bar with snacks on sale in the train but it was just typical cuban sandwiches when we were there so not a lot of variety. there doesn't seem... More

It's an attraction that lots of people would do it, there is a lace market there. You walked up to the top and have a view of the place. It's interesting.

Wonderful place that we visited by horse thanks to our host in casa font. Worth the money, nice place with a bath in a natural swimming pool, where we unfortunately not alone but this was still fine
