Lovely beach, close to Trinidad and easily got to by taxi or hop-on hop-off bus. We saw 5 flamingo and lots of other birds on the way, too.

I thought the beach was murky with sea grass growing everywhere. The beach had a lot of trash! What is up with people not picking up their trash that can end up in our oceans. The beach is fine for a quick guy away. But...More

Nice beach but very busy. Definitely not my favourite in Cuba but it was very big so we found space for all of us. There are a few shacks which offer basic food and drinks

The kids loved the beach which is 10 CUCs from Trinidad. Good beach restaurants but other snack opportunities were limited at the part of the beach we visited

We went to La Batea, which is on the Ancon penisula, but a couple km before the Ancon hotel and playa Ancon. It was $15 CUC round-trip, with the driver returning at a set time to pick us up. The immediate shoreline there consists of...More

This is the first time I've seen clean and clear blue warm waters, and clean white sands at beaches. They offer coconut drinks, catered picnics and rides out to the sea for snorkeling and scuba diving as well.

Great place to go if you want to get away from children. Not much to do there except relax and take in the sun. Everyone goes into town for things to do and excitement. Closest town is Trinidad. You have to take a bus or...More

I would say it is an ordinary beach with blurry water. A plus is that things there are very quiet so you can relax and enjoy. At the end of our trip we visited cayo Santa Maria so we could compare. In contrast with Varadero...More

September is during hurricane season in the Caribbean and is more likely to be rainy. But, there are also nice stretches of weather.
